What is Drone?
The word ‘drone’ comes from the old English word ‘drān’ which refers to a male bee searching for a mate and emitting a continuous monotone sound. A drone is a drone that is smaller in size than a regular aircraft. Unlike regular aircraft, drones do not require a pilot to fly the aircraft instead anyone who is able to control the drone can fly it.
Types of Drones
Drones have three types consisting of Multi Rotor Drones, Fixed Wing Drones and Single Rotor Drones.
Types of drones and Function
Multi Rotor Drones
These drones are usually used for photographic and videography purposes.
Multi rotor drones can be broken down according to the number of rotors, namely tricopter, quadcopter, hexacopter and octocopter.
Multi rotor drones typically have a flight duration limit of about 20 to 30 minutes. This is because the drone energy is used to move the rotor to maintain the stability of the drone. The less the number of rotors, the greater the energy efficiency.
This type of drone is also user -friendly, especially for those who are new to using drones for the first time. This is because it requires minimal skill and usually has a cheaper price than other drones.
Fixed Wing Drones
Fixed Wing Drones can save more energy as they do not use rotors but use wings to move upwards and only require energy to move them forward.
The Gas engine used allows the drone to move in a longer time.
Unfortunately, this type of drone also has some drawbacks, among which is that it is not equipped with a camera carrier, so it cannot be used for photographic purposes.
In addition, these drones also require more skills for take-off and landing in addition to the relatively expensive price compared to rotor drones.
Single Rotor Drone
The Single Rotor Drone has a very strong structure and a design that is like a real helicopter.
Despite its name single rotor helicopter, it has two rotors located on the top and rear of the helicopter.
The large -sized rotor located at the top of the helicopter plays a role in lifting the helicopter, while the small -sized rotor located at the back of the helicopter plays a role in controlling direction and stability.
This drone is also capable of carrying heavy loads faster and longer durability.
Usage
We provide book delivery services only by using drones. As we all know, since the inception of Covid-19, many things need to be considered and modified according to the situation including the process of borrowing and returning books.
This idea was triggered following the increase in the use of grab food, panda food and food COD among the community in Malaysia. We therefore assume that by including the use of drones as a transmission medium in libraries will get encouraging response from users.
Price
The price charged for book delivery depends on the distance and the number of books borrowed. The largest distance and the number of books borrowed the higher the price to be paid. The delivery price of this book starts as low as RM 0.50 for each book and RM 2 for every 4 km.
